She’s desperate to remember…and he’s desperate to forget.

The Renaldis, Book 3

As one of the heads of his family’s well-respected fashion house, Vincenzo Renaldi is used to living life at light speed. His relationship with Amber, a successful model, was the definition of “jet-set”, from whirlwind romance to quickie wedding. Now, at the rate these two workaholics are going, they may as well live in two different worlds.

Determined to recapture the magic that drew them together, Vince flies to New York to confront his wife. And only succeeds in chasing her away—straight into the path of a moving car.

When Amber awakens in the hospital, she’s overjoyed to see her husband by her side. Yet there’s something behind the relief in his tired eyes. And something behind his determination to treat her like a queen. Something that lurks just beyond the shadows of her missing memories.

And when the truth re-emerges, the pain could be a sign of healing…or the final straw that tears them apart once and for all.

Warning: The last of the Renaldi brothers finally gets his story. Which means a hot and possessive Italian man is on the menu, determined to show his beautiful wife just how much he loves her. In every sizzling, sexy way he can.

Excerpt:

She traced his lips with her fingertip, her touch so light it sent a shiver stealing through him. He parted his lips and she dropped her hand, brushed his mouth with hers again, softer this time. Lingering. As if she wanted more.

God knew he wanted more. Needed more. He’d missed his wife so damn much.

Reaching up, he cupped her uninjured cheek, holding her to him as he took over the kiss, parting her lips with his delving tongue. She welcomed him, the soft sound of pleasure making his skin tight, and he slid his fingers into her thick, silky hair, holding her to him.

When was the last time they kissed like this? He couldn’t remember. All he knew was he could devour her. Kiss her for hours. Touch her everywhere. Slowly strip off her clothes…

“Sorry.” He broke away from her still seeking lips, feeling like an ass. “We’ve gone too far.”

“What? Are you serious?” The teasing smile curving her lips would be the death of him. He knew it. “We aren’t teenagers with curfews, Vince. You’re my husband. You can do with me what you wish.”

If that wasn’t a bold invitation… “You’re still in recovery, Amber. I can’t push too hard. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I’m not dead.” She slid closer to him, pressing her cheek to his so her lips rested just beside his ear. “I want you. It’s been too long since I’ve felt you inside me.”

If she only knew the truth to that statement. They hadn’t been together in months. And her words of promise, the way she moved against him, the honey sweet taste of her still on his lips…it was taking everything within him not to jump her. Take her back to their new bedroom and christen that giant king-sized bed properly.

“Amber,” he said warningly, but it was no use. His persistent wife was now nibbling on his ear.

And she knew how much he loved that. What it did to him. Such a dirty trick.

“If you’re afraid you’ll hurt me, don’t be.” She nipped his earlobe, and a low hum that he couldn’t hold back escaped him. “I know you’ll be gentle this time. We can take it slow. Can’t we?”

He wanted to. God knew how badly he missed having her beneath him, naked and willing. But it would kill him if he hurt her. He’d never forgive himself. And what if he couldn’t control himself? Her body, the way she responded to his every touch and kiss had always been his weakness. The first time they met she’d flashed that wicked smile at him and he’d been done. Dead.

They’d moved fast. One minute they were flirting, the next, they were kissing. And then…he got her into his bed.

He never let her out of his life after that. Sexually, they were combustible.

Could he hold himself back if he had her naked in his bed? He wasn’t sure.

“You wouldn’t have been able to resist either, believe me.”

He broke down my defenses as if they were paper. One dark, unfathomable glance from Alejandro, the notorious Duke of Alzacar, and I was his. It was only later that I realized why he’d seduced me, and I had no choice but to flee.

Nine months on, he’s found me. No matter how my body and my heart react to him, I can never let the duke take our son away from me. But Alejandro will stop at nothing. I just have one card left to play…

** I received a copy from Harlequin via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**
*All quotes from eARC and may change in final edition*

First Impression

Late last night I decided to log onto NetGalley and take a look for something new to read. I was really in the mood for something light and full of fluff, this reading slump just doesn’t want to leave! Once I read the synopsis I realized the great potential this book would have and decided to give it a go.

Opening Lines

The gray, lowering sky was falling like a shroud across the old colonial city of San Miguel de Allende when I heard the words I’d feared in nightmares for the past year.”

The Good

I had a feeling this book would have great potential and I was right! I loved the plot, it was just so interesting and kept building and building! I even enjoyed the characters. Lena and Alejandro were two strong main characters and dysfunctional secondary characters Claudia and Edward all kept the story alive. The writing style was definitely my favourite part, I kept trying to tab different parts because there were just so many beautiful quotes! I’ve included a couple throughout my review.

Oleander. I Shivered a little. So beautiful to the eyes. But so poisonous to the heart.
Just like Alejandro, I thought.”

The Bad

  • Nothing I would consider bad.

The In-Between

  • Title – I’m that person that expects the title to match the plot of a book, and this is one that I felt could have been named something different. The title is Uncovering Her Nine Month Secret, yet the really wasn’t MUCH of uncovering Lena’s secret, within the first chapter its solved. Now, there was another secret that seemed the be the focus of the book and I feel like the title should have had more to do with that than Lena’s.
  • On and Off – This book fell flat at some points closer towards the end. I felt like the same level of creativity that was used to start the book was missing when it came to finishing the book.
  • 9 Months Ago – I would have loved if there was a chapter from nine months/a year ago when Lena and Alejandro first meet and how that night really took off for them.

Denial is a beautiful thing. A woman in love can be very good at focusing on the ode and ignoring the thorn-at last until it draws blood.”

Lasting Impression

Overall, Uncovering Her Nine Month Secret was a cute, light, and swoon worthy read! A couple of things I wish played out differently but still an enjoyable read! If you want a romance novel with an innocent heroine, a hero with a secret, and a loveable family I recommend picking this up!

You create your own future, step by step, by being brave. By doing the right thing. By telling the truth. By trying your best.”

First Impression

Ah, a contemporary romance. This is exactly what I need right now! A cute story, wait…love triangle? Hmm. We’ll see how this plays out…

The Good

 photo tumblr_inline_mt2dunIFDN1rqjyfs_zps31620574.gif

It was just so damn cute!!! Marry Me For Money had a really slow start but it quickly starts to pick up! This was a well written romance novel with a little twist, and it’s probably not the twist you’re expecting! I couldn’t put it down, I legit read it in one sitting late one night. I could feel my eyes starting to burn with tiredness but I NEEDED to know how it would end!! Although predictable at times, I highly enjoyed the plot! And the characters! I instantly loved Kent, yep I did<3! As for Brian, well you know that saying “nice guys finish last“? Well, they really do. I honestly wasn’t that into his character anyways so it worked out perfectly for me! Oh, and for Bethany as well ;).

The Bad

  • Nothing I would consider bad.

The In-Between

  • A little bit predictable at times, and I wasn’t a fan of how Kent was portrayed at certain points. But that’s it!

Lasting Impression

Overall, Marry Me For Money is a cute contemporary read! It’s one of those books that I can picture being turned into a movie and would be perfect for a girls night in! If you’re looking for a well written, ‘just friends but little do they know’ kind of romance I highly recommend reading this!

Mia Kayla is a New Adult/Contemporary Romance writer who lives in Illinois.

On the weekdays, she can be caught wearing a suit, commuting to her corporate job in downtown Chicago and raising three beautiful munchkins in the suburbs, four if you count the husband. In her free time she loves reading romance novels, jamming to boy bands, catching up on celebrity gossip and designing flowers for weddings.

Most of the time, she can be caught on the train with her nose in a book sporting a cheeky grin because the main characters finally get their happily-ever-after at the end. She loves reading about happy endings but has more fun writing them.

First Impression

Tarzan retelling? WHAT!! There are many retellings out now a days, but how often do you come across one on Tarzan? I can’t think of any, it’s just so rare! Back in April after reading the synopsis I added it to my 2014 shelf and when I say there was a blog tour for it, well of course I had to sign up! I mean…it’s TARZAN!

 photo tumblr_lmg2k4TCo51qkebpzo1_500_zpsaf39ef4a.gif

The Good

  • More plot, less romance – I loved that this was not a romance driven novel. I mean yes, you have a little bit of romance between Cade and Dara, obviously! But it was more described as two characters being interested and curious about each other. Wild has a solid plot, with romance floating in the background.
  • Writing style – Alex Mallory knows how to write! I found her writing to be very descriptive and has a beautiful lay-out which helped made me feel like I was actually IN the story! I like that she went with third person POV, it allows for readers to see different perspectives and get a real sense of what was happening.
  • Characters – I loved the two main characters; Cade and Dara! Cade, oh Cade. He’s just so adorable! My heart broke for him; being ripped away from the only world he knows and thrown into the world he didn’t know existed is just plain cruel. I just wanted to grab him and hold him and tell him everything was going to be okay!! Now Dara is a strong-willed individual, if she sets her mind to something it’s happening. There’s no way to change her mind. And the secondary characters had a bigger role in this than I expected, but liked! Cade and Dara had great chemistry together and even as individuals they brought a lot to this story.

 photo tumblr_lzlv45Ynre1r34qiso1_500_zps9b24dcf9.gif

The Bad

  • Nothing really that I would consider bad.

The In-Between

  • Pace – I’m a little bit of an impatient individual and when I get to books that have long and slow chapters I tend to lose focus. Wild is a slow pace kind of story that bothered me, but it’s so well written that I didn’t want to DNF it.

Lasting Impression

Overall, Wild was a beautiful modern-day retelling of Tarzan. A little slow at times, but still a solid story! If you love Tarzan, retellings, or in the mood for a contemporary novel I recommend giving Wild a try!

Alex Mallory is a pen name for YA author Saundra Mitchell. She’s a big fan of reading, history, camping and competitive M&M sorting.

She once crossed a dilapidated train trestle in the middle of the night, 200 feet above the Wabash River, in a futile attempt to prove her love to someone who had no idea she existed.

1) She lived to tell about it. 2) It didn’t work. 3) She doesn’t recommend it.

Look, but don’t touch.

Alone and broke, Paige Stewart can’t believe her good luck. Who hires a virtual stranger out of a New York City coffee shop to care for their adorable grandson? Apparently Claudia Renaldi does.

Widower Matteo Renaldi isn’t pleased that his mother found a replacement nanny so soon after he fired the last one. Yet little Matty takes to Paige like no other nanny before. And Matteo can’t deny he’s quite taken with her as well. She’s beautiful, sweet, and far, “far” too young for him.

There’s something about the gorgeously sexy Matteo that fills Paige with longing to break through his wall of formality and touch his softer side. But no one knows better than she that crushing on her boss is one thing. Acting on those feelings is forbidden. Foolish.

Inevitable

Warning: Sexy, grumpy Italian hero who is determined to keep his walls up. No matter how much his son’s sweetly beautiful nanny drives him to distraction

Oh boy…

This was good.

OH, this was good!

I really needed something light to read, I’m in a mini reading slump and Temporary Arrangement did the trick!! Some prequels really lack substance, and most times after reading them I can’t help but wish that the author never bother with one. This prequel was fantastic! It had so much substance to it and things moved at a fast pace! I didn’t want it to end! So much happened that I didn’t expect would, and that cliffhanger! Omg, I went on the hunt for the next book in the series. I just had to know how Matteo and Paige would continue to live/work/just be around each other after…after…well you’ll just have to read it! 😀

I see some people have this under the Adult Fiction category, but I personally find it’s better suited under New Adult given Paige’s age. Nonetheless, this was a solid romance novella that had you rooting for the main characters to be together! All I know is I can’t wait to jump into Tempted by Her Boss (The Renaldis, #1) to see what happens next! Also, have any of you read Love, In English? I’m not sure why. But the characters in this book reminded be of the characters in Love, In English by Karina Halle!! Maybe it’s just me, but either way this is a book I recommend to anyone who loves a good plot, series, romance and characters!

Review: Melt

Melt

Author: Selene Castrovilla
Series: N/A
Genre: Contemporary, Realistic Fiction
Publisher: Last Syllable Books
Expected Publication Date: November 6th, 2014
Format: PDF
Pages: 315
Source: Jen Halligan PR

 photo 43968bbc-d4b3-489f-a604-973a70d99be8_zps5bec76ae.jpg

It will hit you like a punch in the face, and also seep through the cracks in your soul.

Melt is a brutal love story, set against the backdrop of The Wizard of Oz. Sixteen year old “good girl” Dorothy just blew into the small town of Highland Park – where the social headquarters is Munchkinland (Dunkin’ Donuts.) There, she meets Joey – a “bad boy” who tells no one about the catastrophic domestic violence he witnesses at home. Can these two lovers survive peer pressure, Joey’s reputation, and his alcoholism? And then there’s his family’s secret – about to be unleashed.

Told in dual first person, Joey’s words are scattered on the page – reflecting his broken state. Dorothy is the voice of reason – until something so shattering happens that she, too, may lose her grip. Can their love endure, or will it melt away?

Melt is based on true events. It is both a chilling tale of abuse, and a timeless romance.

 photo 8421230_zps8e07387e.gif

Have you ever read something dark? So dark that it leaves you feeling numb. You sit there after, your brain still trying to process everything you just read. That was me once I finished reading Melt. I’ve never read anything by Ellen Hopkins, and I’ve never read anything dark. If there’s a book that I’ve read that’s classified as dark, it shouldn’t be. Selena Castrovilla’s Melt is the true definition of a book that is both dark and deep.

All those years building and all it took was for a puddle to bring it down.

Melt is told through two different perspectives from Dorothy and Joey. I liked Joey’s perspective the most because I felt like with every word he painted a vivid picture that will forever be etched into my mind. The writing style took a couple of chapters to get use to, but I liked having the dual perspectives; it allowed you to really grasp what took place.

We didn’t speak, and yet we were communicating. Getting to know each other, without words. When you think about it, words don’t count for much anyway. It’s the intentions behind them that count.

Selene managed to perfectly capture such a devastating and realistic topic and carry it through with a solid plot and deep characters. She kept my heart thumping one I got to the last couple of chapters. At one point I panicked wondering how the book would come to an end. Would I be able to prepare myself? Nope. The ending was power and I re-read about 3 times.

Overall, Melt is the kind of book that you won’t be able to shake; it’ll haunt you. I recommended this book to everyone! As long as people don’t take this as a Wizard of Oz retelling there is nothing to be disappointed about. I’m highly looking forward to what the final layout will be once this hits stores in November.
